The Christian world reveled in the attention that Christ was getting through this craze. It was a short lived time when when at least the name of Jesus was in the conversation of daily activity for many. The secular world saw it then and continues to see it today as a means through which to mock the faith community, and as with so many other things took it into their own world by substituting Jesus name with any sort of filler that night bring humor rather than reverence to the forefront.
My goal here in Crimson Conversation is simply to take what has so often been just another Christian "pet rock" fad of the day, and incite the Christian masses to reexamine self, as we reexamine Jesus, and what He said.
WWJD (I don't know if I owe someone a royalty every time I use that phrase or not...) got us to think; 'would Jesus do what I am about to do?', which is certainly not a bad thing to consider. Actually, it is a great thing to consider. But consider against what? On what do we base the decision on what Jesus would or would not do? To make right decisions in this area, we have to do the only right thing - we have to go back to scripture and find out. Sure we can go to the bible like so many cults and other organizations that claim Christianity and twist the words within to make them mean what they want them to, or to best suit their ends. Examination of scripture is important. Proper understanding is important too. But it all boils down to the character of Jesus.
Studying scripture, while rewarding, comes with some traps. For me, one of those traps is a desire to write a book about every new subject in which I have been given a new understanding or personal revelation. Getting closer to Jesus is exciting! Getting to know Him better should be all of our life’s goals. When that happens, when you gain a better closeness, when you have been gifted with a greater understanding of you, of Jesus, of the Father, of the Holy Spirit, and of your relationship with them, if you are worth your salt, you want to share that with as many people as possible. Therein lies my personal trap. New understanding, new manuscript.
Today, you have before your eyes the beginnings of one such manuscript that has yet to come to book fruition. I have always been fascinated with the idea of what Jesus really said. Knowing these things is truly being prepared for what Peter called us to be prepared for; to make a ready defense foe the hope that is in us. Such is the goal of this book. To encourage us all as Christians to truly be ready, and to be ready with truth, not tradition, conjecture or the latest twisted theology that allows us to relish in our “freedom in Christ’ as opposed to living a Holy life worthy of Him.
Please follow along with me as I go through the New Testament and reexamine the words of Jesus. We will look at the spiritual, apply it to the practical, and turn crimson words, into a lifestyle that reflects Christianity, reflects truth, and reflects Him. What dis Jesus say? Really? Those crimson conversations should be our first stop in defending truth, and answering question about our faith an about Jesus. The better we know Him, the better we can be like Him, and the better of we'll better off we'll be.
In this effort, to God be all the glory.
